Copy the sample estimate below for your customers, or use the same template as a fillable form on your phone during the site visit. Every estimate is saved with photos, tree details and the price.
The sample estimate is free to copy. The form is free to build and preview; publishing it starts at $32 a year.
A tree removal estimate is the written price and scope you give a customer before the work starts. A clear one answers the questions that cause disputes later: which trees, what happens to the wood and the stump, what is not included, and how long the price holds.
Company name, phone, email, and your license or insurance details if your area requires them.
Customer name and contact details, plus the address where the work happens.
An estimate number, the date you wrote it, and the date the price expires.
Species, height, trunk diameter, condition, and hazards such as power lines or branches over the roof.
Removal, stump grinding, haul away, cleanup and permits, each with its own price.
The total, any deposit, what is excluded, and a line for the customer to accept the estimate.
Use this as a model for the estimate you send customers. Replace the business details and set the prices from your own rates; the numbers below are an example only.
| Description | Price |
|---|---|
| Remove red oak in back yard, rigging limbs down over the garage | $1,850 |
| Grind stump to about 6 in. below grade | $275 |
| Haul away all wood, brush and chips | $300 |
| Rake and blow off driveway, lawn and roof | Included |
| Total | $2,425 |
Deposit: $600 to book the job, balance due when the work is complete.
Not included: repair of underground irrigation or utilities not marked before work starts, and root removal beyond stump grinding.
Example only. Tree removal prices vary by tree size, access, equipment and local rates.
Paste this into an email, Word, Google Docs or your invoicing tool, then fill in the brackets.
The RapidForms version turns the same template into a three-page form you fill in on your phone at the property. Each estimate arrives by email and can be added to a Google Sheet, so you keep a running log of every job you priced.
Estimate number, estimate date, customer name, phone, email and job address.
Number of trees, species, height, trunk diameter, condition, hazards, equipment access and site photos.
Work included, crew size, hours on site, equipment, price breakdown, total, deposit, valid-until date, notes and who prepared it.
Only customer name, job address and estimate total are required, so you can save an estimate quickly and add details later. You can rename, remove or add fields before you publish.
These are the details worth recording on every estimate, because each one changes your time, equipment or risk on the job.
Your business details, the customer and job address, an estimate number and dates, the tree and site details, a line-by-line scope with prices, the total and deposit, exclusions, and a place for the customer to accept.

No. You enter the price breakdown and the total yourself, the same way you would on paper.
Many contractors use 30 days, but choose a period that matches how often your fuel, labor and disposal costs change, and write the expiry date on every estimate.
